The dream for Cultivate Music Studio started way back in 2012, when we were brand new parents to our first baby and living in our fixer-upper first home in Midlothian, TX. Nathan was a worship leader and was teaching guitar lessons in at home on the side, and I (Brittany) was a business major who had just left her job in the corporate world in Dallas to stay home with our newborn son.

One day we came across a charming craftsman style house for lease in our town and took a tour of it, imagining how perfect it would be to fill it with music students and teachers. The dream for a music lesson studio was born. We went home and created spreadsheets and ran numbers and talked and dreamed, and we decided it was not the right time or season. So we tucked it away.

Fast forward 7 years to 2019. Throughout those years, we had two more kids, moved to the McKinney area, worked at an incredible church and helped build the music and worship program, and all the while kept teaching from our home. One day a week, Nathan would teach students in the front room of our house while Brittany would do her best to keep all 3 little ones occupied and quiet (quite the challenge!).

In 2019, we took a big leap of faith and transitioned to building the music studio business full time. We started with a one room space in the upstairs of a building just off the square in Historic Downtown McKinney. Over the course of 8 months, we added a piano teacher, voice lessons, and vocal classes and quickly realized we needed to move to a bigger space.

In February 2020, Nathan was on a trip to India and Brittany was in Amarillo with the kids when she came across a Facebook post for a charming craftsman style house available for lease near Downtown McKinney. As soon as we were back from our trips, we took a tour and fell in love right away. The building was perfect, and we could just see the dream coming to life there. We moved into the space in April 2020.

In August of 2021 we opened out second location inside Brookhaven Church in west McKinney.

We now offer private guitar, bass, piano and voice lessons in our studio and online as well as group vocal classes.. We have the most amazing group of experienced, passionate teachers, and we love our students and getting to watch them grow as musicians! The best is yet to come!
