Cultivate Band Policies

Absences and Make-up Lessons
Since group lessons can not be rescheduled and teachers need to be compensated for every class, we are not able to issue refunds or credits for any classes missed. If a student needs to miss a class, the account holder will need to notify the instructor via email prior to the scheduled class time. The instructor will send any materials via email that the student needs to learn for the next class.
Teacher Absences
If a teacher has to miss a class for any reason, a substitute will be provided by the studio. No refunds or credit will be issued unless a sub cannot be found and the class has to be rescheduled.
Spring/Fall Bands - If the missed class happens before the last billing date for the semester, a credit for 25% of one month’s tuition will be placed on each student’s account. If the absence happens after the last billing date, a refund in the same amount will be issued via check or electronic refund.
Summer Bands - A refund will be given for any missed classes that can not be made up.
Locations/Parking
Downtown McKinney Location: Our downtown studio is located in the Cultural District in Historic Downtown McKinney at 209 E. Lamar St. Parking is available behind the studio or across Lamar St. in Lot 1.
Our Brookhaven location is located at 6101 Stacy Road in McKinney. Please enter through one of the two lobby doors (on either side of the building) and wait in the lobby waiting area. Your teacher will meet you in the waiting area when it’s time for your lesson to begin.
Pricing/Registration Fee
Spring/Fall Bands - A non-refundable fee of $75 will be due at registration. The remaining fee will be $375. Payment can be divided into 3 installments billed at the beginning of each month or paid in full at registration. There is a $25 discount for payment in full as well as $25 discounts for any additional students from the same family or students already enrolled in other lessons or bands at Cultivate.
Summer Bands - Full tuition of $175 will be due at registration.
Materials Needed
Pianos, drums, guitar amps, speakers and microphones will be provided. Guitars, effects pedals and any midi setup (laptop, interface, software, etc.) must be provided by the student. Students may bring any additional instruments or equipment they wish to use.
Student App/Portal
Each student will have an online portal for managing payments and seeing teacher notes. You can log into your account by going to cultivatemusiclessons.com and clicking “student login” from the main menu. Please create and save your own password. Once the student/parent has created a password and logged in, he/she can view the lesson schedule, account balance, and notes from their teacher. You can download the Enrollsy app from the app store.
Communication with your Teacher & the Studio:
If you have questions about your lesson material, please contact your teacher via email. You will receive an email before the first lesson with the teacher copied in. Please save your teachers’s contact info for future communications. For billing questions and all other questions, please contact the studio at contact@cultivatemusic.org or (469) 359-7088.
Practicing
Students will be given materials for songs during class and will be expected to learn songs at home. Class time will be spent playing songs together, making adjustments, and working on performance techniques. This will help each band to be able to learn as many songs as possible throughout the semester.
Withdrawal from Bands
Students need to be prepared to commit to an entire semester (entire week for summer camps). Withdrawing from the band early could result in compromising the structure of the band and could create a less than ideal situation for other band members. If an emergency situation creates the need to withdraw early, please contact the studio to discuss options at contact@cultivatemusic.org.
Recitals and Performances/Fees
Spring/Fall Bands - Bands will perform at least one time at the end of the semester on the weekend of our studio-wide recitals. See our studio calendar for dates.
Summer Bands - There will be one performance at the end of the week. Location TBD.
Additional Gigs/Performances
We’d love for our band members and their families to find additional opportunities for performances (spring/fall bands only)! If additional opportunities are found, please send details in an email to the teacher as well as the studio owner (nathan@cultivatemusic.org) for consideration at least two weeks in advance of the event.
Photo/Video Release
Cultivate Music Studio is hereby granted permission to take pictures and videos of the student during recitals and/or lessons for use in advertisement or for display or security purposes. Cultivate Music Studio is hereby granted permission to post pictures and videos of students on the Cultivate Music Studio website and social media platforms.
Safety Policies
Parents are always welcome to stay during classes. Each lesson room has a window into the studio. We also have cameras in each of the lesson rooms and waiting area. If you ever have any questions or concerns at all, please contact us.
